Zeena & Greg - Kindred Adventure Spirits

The Heart Of Zeena & Greg’s Wedding Ceremony:
A Kindred Spirit Adventure Partnership
During a wedding passage process, I always tell my couples, “Don’t worry that you need to have some jaw dropping amazing story for me to tell during your ceremony - it’s oftentimes the smaller, more mundane moments in your relationship that best express the beauty of your connection.” Couples then heave a sigh of relief and we discover together the unique cool thing about their love.
I didn’t say this to Zeena and Greg, though. Because they are the epitome of that big, wild adventure story that you’d think a Colorado mountain couple would have.
Hiking, mountain biking, rollerblading, skiing, snowboarding, summiting 14’ers, climbing to ancient cliff dwellings, dreaming of surfing, scuba diving, traveling to the South Pacific… and Iceland… and the list goes on.
Join in the fun in their photo story below where you can see how they expressed their kindred adventure spirit in their ceremony, complete with table settings made with mini mountains, rock cairn ceremony decorations, wading in the river, and of course an acoustic Colorado mountain band…
Let’s Get It Started
Zeena and Greg had a traditional ceremony processional complete with bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girl, ring bearer and Zeena’s parents walking her down the aisle.
Ceremony Highlights
We kept the ceremony simple, while at the same time lively and full of laughter. Zeena and Greg chose short quotes rather than readings. Like this awesome one from Pablo Neruda: “I love your feet because they have wandered over the earth and through the wind and water until they brought you to me.”
Zeena and Greg love their family and friends, so we did a community ring warming by giving the rings to the guests so they could pass them person-to-person during the ceremony and each silently give their blessing, prayer or positive thought to the rings.
There were so many wild adventures to share from Zeena and Greg’s life. We picked one about their first big hike together - a challenging climb up Mt. Bierstadt. Neither had hiked a 14’er before and it was the quintessential experience to seal the deal on their relationship as each realized the other had the same goals for adventure and trying new things.
My couples often choose to do a wine box ceremony, but Zeena and Greg put their own spin on it - “Nope, we want a champagne box”. So they will drink champagne on every anniversary and re-read their vows :)
The heart of their repeat-after-me vows were about marrying their best friend, and the ways that they can continue to surprise, challenge and inspire one another.
The ceremony was a blast and before we knew it, it was done. Rings were exchanged, then the kiss and these two walked down the aisle, next big adventures to come for sure!
Married!
Congratulations, Zeena & Greg!
May you step into the next chapter with the same vitality and joy that you have lived your life with thus far. May you always be open and honest and willing to truly listen to each other and talk about your feelings, through both the easy times and the challenging times. May you never forget how you felt on those first dates, or when you bought your first house and all those other firsts to come. May you have countless adventures, expand your horizons and make amazing memories. We know you will! So much love, Lisa.
