Simple Intimate Boulder Colorado Elopement
The Soul Of Sarah & Evan’s Mountain Elopement:
The Simple Intimacy Of Nature & Love
Photos by partner company Colorado Photographer Squad.
Sarah and Evan are one of those couples whose connection with one another is entwined with their connection with wilderness and nature.
So they had a simple, beautiful, intimate elopement in the heart of all things wild.
In the planning stages, we chose this spot in Boulder because our team knows it is the quintessential mountain top elopement location - a walk through a happy Ponderosa Pine forest, a perch for a ceremony on millions of years-old granite, an endless view all the way to the Continental Divide.
And the sunsets. Some spots have a particular magic to them in the setting sun. This is one of them. Sarah & Evan’s thoughtful, soulful connection made it all the more magical. Come along on our photo story to enjoy their simple and peaceful elopement in nature…
Heading Out On The Trail
Our mountain top was just a half-hour drive from downtown Boulder, with a quick 5-minute walk to the ceremony spot.
These two had their backpack ready to go with all the things they’d need for their simple ceremony.
When we got to the spot, Sarah changed from sneakers to fancier wedding shoes, as so many of our mountain brides do.
Ceremony Highlights
The mountain was quiet and tranquil that evening, so we first took time to stop, breathe and take in the views, the sounds, the scents of the land around us.
These two chose a favorite quote about family from Lilo & Stitch to get us started: “Ohana means family. And family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten."
We also read the most intoxicating Walt Whitman poem. Words that reminded us of all that is untamed and earthy and wild within. It’s easy to forget this in our crazy tech-filled world. Sarah and Evan’s elopement was not only about love, it was also an opportunity to remember what is true and satisfying for the soul.
Next, they read vows that they’d written from scratch using my Vow Adventure Kit.
These two have so much depth and have navigated through the joys and challenges that a committed relationship brings. All that they’ve learned, all that they’ve grown together, was present in the words that they shared and the commitments that they made.
What I loved about Sarah and Evan’s ceremony too was all the hugs and kissing! They didn’t wait until the end of the ceremony to kiss or to connect - every time they felt moved, they embraced or kissed, waaaay before the ceremony was even near over ;)
These two also started a tradition for every wedding anniversary - to drink champagne, read vows, read love letters written on the previous anniversary, then write new love letters to ignite the tradition again.
The ring exchange. Plus…
More hugging and kissing! Before the ceremony was done! We love these two!
If you think about it, it’s really what an intimate elopement is about - the freedom to just do whatever feels right in the moment. To feel, to emote, to just be, to express love.
We said a blessing for all that is to come in their married life. They immersed in the moment and what it meant for them. It was meaningful, beautiful and real.
Then the actual end-of-ceremony kiss!
Married!
With the peace and serenity that these two envisioned, and a gorgeous photo shoot to come.
Congratulations Sarah & Evan, we love you!
